Jerry Ann Brown
We are celebrating the well-lived life of Jerry Ann Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bobby Joe Brown. She was devoted to her sons, Don and wife, Debi, and Joe and wife, Tammie. She was a loving, as well as a steadfast prayer warrior, on behalf of her grandchildren, Taylor and wife, Anne Brown, Russell and wife, Diana Brown, Caitlyn and husband, Ryan Efaw, and Evan, Dawson, Griffin, and Hudson Brown. She was also a doting great-grandmother to Julieanne, Caroline and Dylan. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Jerry read her Bible faithfully from a young age, encouraging her one-day husband Bob to sit at the table for devotions before they went out on dates. She set an example of personal, life-long Bible study and prayer for her children as well as her friends. She encouraged and supported the educational and personal endeavors of her grandchildren - of whom she was very proud! She worked tirelessly in the real estate business for over 30 years, and never failed to invite any one of the many people she came in contact with during her daily life to join her in worship at First Baptist Church in Edmond, where she was a member for 50 years.
Jerry was a consummate game player - Mexican Train, Uno, Onze and more! She loved to play games and spent many hours in this pastime not only with friends but her grandchildren as well. Anyone who spent much time with Jerry knew of her long love affair with coffee! She never had a cup far from her hand! And of course, there is her favorite saying: "You owe it to yourself!", a mantra that she certainly lived by! As you can tell, Jerry enjoyed life and inspired others to do so as well!
Jerry received both her bachelor's and master's degrees in Education from East Central University in Ada, Okla. She began her career teaching school for 10 years. After a few years, Bob encouraged Jerry to pursue a career in real estate because she loved touring houses on the weekends. She started as a realtor, moved on to broker/owner and started Century 21 Titan Realtors with friends and business partners Mo Anderson and Ruth Honeycutt, and ended her real estate career with Keller Williams Realty. Jerry was a top producer, earning many certifications and awards throughout her career.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Laurie Bryant Hibdon; father, Charles Hibdon; sisters, Geneva and husband, Ed Byars, and Winona and husband, Guy Blanton; as well as granddaughter, Annie Laurie Brown; and sister-in-law, Mary Brown.
One of her last statements to her son, Joe was that she was ready to go home to be with Bob in the presence of her Lord and Savior. We know that she is rejoicing today, having gone to her final rest with Him.
Come-and-go visitation for Jerry will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, with the family receiving friends 5-7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Service Chapel.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Edmond followed by interment at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur, Okla., at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mercy+Missions Fund of First Baptist, Edmond, Okla.
