Geraldine Meeker
Gerry John Meeker went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 8, 2019. She was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Sept. 25, 1939, and had been a lifelong resident of the metro area.
Gerry lived life to its fullest. When her children were young, she was always up for driving them and their friends anywhere they wanted to go. She was known to do a few donuts in empty parking lots, with all the kids in the car cheering her on. She worked numerous years in real estate, but found her true calling sitting with the elderly.
Gerry never met a stranger and her home was your home when visiting. She loved hosting friends and family at her home on the lake. She would make everyone feel special and friends always became family to Gerry. She enjoyed many years of sisterhood in Beta Sigma Phi. Though she hadn't been active for many years, she always spoke very fondly of her time in 'sorority'. Gerry graduated from John Marshall in the class of 1957 and was always reminding people that she was a Bear. However, when her son, Charlie played sports for Edmond Memorial, she became a Bulldog fan for life.
She is preceded in death by her children's father, Charles K. Meeker Sr. "Tuffy"; parents, Fred "Big John" and Gussie John; brothers, Fred Leroy John Jr. and Bobby Wayne John.
She is survived by her son, Charlie Meeker and Jackie of Edmond, Okla.; daughter, Marlo Meeker Crecelius and Ronnie of Rio Vista, Texas; grandchildren, Maxwell Meeker of El Reno, Okla.; Sarah Rose Crecelius of Rio Vista, Texas; Blake and Bryson Meeker of Edmond; great-grandson, Kosten Meeker of El Reno; two lifelong friends that became sisters, Leona Murphy and Jaretta Meeker-Pyle; and a host of cousins and close friends.
A come-and-go visitation and reception will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019, at Crawford Family Funeral Service.
A service celebrating her life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at Edmond First Church of the Nazarene, 3001 S. Boulevard, Edmond. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery will follow.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to a local coat drive. Gerry had been working tirelessly in recent months to collect and clean gently used coats for children in need.
