Garry Dean George was born July 13, 1943, in Dodge City, Kan., to Fay and Genevieve George. Garry grew up in Plains, Kan., and graduated from Plains High School in 1961. He attended classes at Southwestern College and Kansas State University. He moved his family to Edmond, Okla., in 1977. During his career, Garry excelled in the information technology field. On Oct. 17, 1987, Garry and Barbara Petree married and blended their two families. Garry loved riding his motorcycle. He earned his Iron Butt license plate and was planning at least one more such endurance adventure. He also restored vintage bikes to perfection. His other interests included sailing, TaiChi, firearms and most recently, photography. He was licensed as a general aviation pilot.
