Cheryl Rhea Hensch


A loving, flamboyant wife, mother, and grandmother, Cheryl Rhea (Taplin) Hensch of Edmond, Okla., died unexpectedly at home on March 29, 2019 at the age of 67. She was born in Henryetta, Okla., on April 2, 1951 and then raised in Ponca City, Okla. Cheryl taught for 41 years; first as a high school science teacher, later retiring as a biology professor at UCO. She also earned her master's degree in Education from UCO.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Darrell Lee and Esther Jane Taplin, and sister, Patricia Fruits of Ponca City, Okla.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Donald Allen Hensch; two sons, Cameron Ray Hensch, married to Misty Hensch of Houston, Texas, and Cory Ray Hensch, married to Rachel Hensch of Skidmore, Texas; brother, Karl Taplin of Ponca City, Okla.; and eight grandchildren: Kayleigh Vaughan, Catherine Vaughan, Rebecca Hensch, Evelyn Hensch, Jessica Horalek, Alton Hensch, Robert Hensch, and Lorena Hensch.
Cheryl was a cradle-to-grave Episcopalian and a current member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Edmond where services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019, at 6:30 p.m.
