Arletta Nan Trout
Arletta Nan Trout gained her wings on Nov. 24, 2019, with her family by her side. She was born April 4, 1943, in Elk City, Okla., to A.B. and Norma (Hagar) Lowry, the second of five children. Arletta grew up in the Elk City community, graduating from Elk City High.
In 1969, Arletta decided to go on a blind date at a friend's house and met the love of her life, C.R. Trout. C.R. had just returned from the military, and shortly after, they married on Nov. 26, 1969. Arletta and C.R. made their home in Hammon, Okla., where they were blessed with three children, Ronda, Tamara and Shelby.
Arletta was very involved in her girls' school and athletic activities. She made every effort to be at every event as possible. During this time, Arletta and C.R. owned a grocery store, Trout's Grocery and Locker, and owned it from 1971-1995. She was also very involved with the First Baptist Church of Hammon, serving as the church secretary, teaching Sunday school and she was the director of the Vacation Bible School program for many years. Arletta also enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Red Moon Culture Club.
In 1998, Arletta and C.R. moved to Edmond, Okla., where they made their home after their girls graduated high school. They were members of the Waterloo Road Baptist Church, where Arletta enjoyed serving and volunteering in any role she could. Arletta and C.R. also owned and operated Trout Farms, where they raised and raced Thoroughbred horses. Arletta was in charge of naming all the racehorses, and Shotgun Kowboy has always been her favorite.
Arletta was very outgoing. She never met a stranger and she knew everybody. Arletta's true love and passion were her faith, her church, her girls, her grandsons, and her farm. Arletta enjoyed being outside, working on the farm and in the yard. She always made sure that her faith came first and made sure to pass that along to her family. She was a strong Christian woman who loved God with all her heart and would serve him in any capacity.
She leaves behind her husband, C.R. Trout; daughters, Ronda Sanford, Tamara Norman and her husband, Darren, and Shelby Gilchrist and her husband, Clint; grandchildren, Layton Sanford, Logan Norman, Gage Gilchrist, Gavin Gilchrist, Lane Norman and Macey Norman, great-grandson, Luke Sanford; brother, Steve Lowry and his wife, Bette; and sisters, Linda Sue Wray and Beth Gowdy; sister-in-law, Jeanne Lowry; as well as many nieces and nephews. Arletta is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kent Lowry.
Come-and-go visitation for Arletta will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019, with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Crawford Funeral Service, 610 NW 178th St., Edmond, OK 73012.
Services celebrating the life of Arletta will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, at Waterloo Baptist Church, 3100 E. Waterloo Rd., Edmond, OK 73034.

So sorry to learn of Arletta's passing. I grew up with her as we were neighbors out in the country.
