Margaret was born October 11, 1922 in El Reno, Okla. to the late Bruce and Elva (Bouldin) Cory. She grew up on a farm on the outskirt of El Reno. Margaret was born into a large family. She was the youngest of 11 children. She had many pleasant memories of all the good times she and her siblings had as children. As a young child, she decided to follow Jesus. Margaret graduated from El Reno High School in 1941. On October 12, 1941, she married the love of her life Edgar Lee Marler, to this union one son, Duane, was born. Some of Margaret’s favorite memories were singing with a gospel quartette. The quartette had a radio program along with their pastor, Rev. J. Lewis Emerett. They traveled around the area performing in several school houses. Margaret also played the pipe organ for the local Nazarene church. On Saturdays, Ed would climb the loft where the pipes for the organ were hung to make repairs so that Margaret could play on Sunday. This was repeated weekly. Although Margaret had only one child, she was blessed to have several of her nieces and nephews, Linda, Rick and Sharon come and live with her. Margaret loved these children as if they were her own. In 1956, Ed received a job promotion and the family moved to Ardmore. It did not matter where Margaret lived, she was active in her church by serving on the church board, teaching Sunday school classes, counseling pastors, or simply promoting and advancing the cause of Christ. While she sometimes struggled with the trials that life presented, she never departed from her faith. She instilled these principles in anyone who would listen. Margaret worked for Avon while in Ardmore. She was the top saleswoman for many years. She is survived by her son Duane Marler and wife Anita of Cushing, grandchildren Mike Marler and wife Mechelle of Plugerville, Texas, Jeremy Marler and wife Angela of Luther, Jason Marler and wife Nicole of Edmond, Josh Marler of Stillwater, McKenzie Sprowls of Cushing, great grandchildren Estella Marler, Mikayla Marler, Jabe Marler, Sierra Marler, Alex Marler, Blake Marler, Seth Marler and Lanny Marler, sister-in-law Mattie Cory of Oklahoma City and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
