Ruth Elaine Smith, 73, of Edmond, Okla., died Thursday at her home after a two-year battle with cancer. Smith, a retired Southwest Airlines reservationist, was born July 14, 1942, in Louisville, Ky., to Ruth Pogue and Alvin Hicks. She was preceded in death by her parents. She loved to garden, cook, shop for good deals, watch British comedies and especially loved her dog, Sheba. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Deuward Smith; her son, Curtis Killman and wife Linda of Sapulpa; her daughter, Patricia Espedal of Stavanger, Norway; step-daughter Teresa Armstead; step-son Ivan Smith and wife Eulinda; step-daughter, Brenda Davidson and husband, Jim; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services were 10 a.m. Saturday, October 31, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City, Okla., under the direction of Crawford Funeral Service, Edmond. Graveside services followed at the Lutheran Redeemers Cemetery in Cushing, Okla.
