Ronnie Frank Birdwell, “Birdie”, 71, passed away without pain and in the comfort of Jesus on November 11, 2015. Ronnie was born to Jack and Mildred Birdwell in Oklahoma City, Okla.,on November 7, 1944. Ronnie attended Edmond High School and graduated in 1962. He also completed his Masters degree in Seminary. Ronnie served for 22 years and retired from the Army National Guard with the attained rank of CWO3. He also served on the Oklahoma City Police Department. In 1968 he married his first wife Carol and began fatherhood with Timothy Birdwell. In 1983 he married Dixie Birdwell and she preceded him in death of natural causes. In 1995 he married his latest wife Debra Birdwell. Early in Ronnie’s life, he enjoyed coaching little league football. He stayed active in all of his children’s activities. He was active throughout life in his church and pastored inmates with his prison ministry, Son-Life Ministries. Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jack and Mildred Birdwell; his wife, Dixie Birdwell, his latest wife Debra Birdwell and his granddaughter Anita Phillips. He is survived by his brother Robert and wife Hoppy Birdwell; son Timothy Birdwell and fiancé Michelle, son James and wife Rashell Phillips, daughter Stacy and husband Tim Henderson, son Bradley and wife Darbi Tomlinson, and son Joseph and wife Michelle Tomlinson. He is survived by his grandchildren Taylor, Memorie, Breanna, Caleb, Peyton, Brayden, Elijah, Christopher, Makenzi and Kane, the great-grandchildren and other loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Ronnie will be especially remembered for his love for Jesus, being the biggest OU Sooner fan you ever saw, and he thoroughly enjoyed picking out his fantasy football team and following it each year. He had a love for his country and the American people that could never be replicated. His children and his grandchildren would light up his face brighter than the sun. Public viewing will be Monday, November 16, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Matthew’s Funeral Home in Edmond. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015,.at Matthew’s Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, OK 73003.
