Muriel's Story

Text size

On June 6, 2017 Muriel Ann (Lee) Loven passed away unexpectedly at OU Medical Center in Edmond, Okla. She was 83.
Muriel was born to parents Richard and Ruth Lee November 18, 1933 in Hillsboro, N.D. where she grew up and attended school. She married Arne Edgar Loven on a very snowy day, January 29, 1956. Arne and Muriel met at church and as Arne explained, "It was always easy to find her because she was always at church". They built their family of five on the foundation of love and principles of faith. The legacy she leaves as the matriarch of her family is easy to see by her family's faith. Arne and Muriel raised their family in Grand Forks, N.D. and Ames, Iowa, and moved to Oklahoma City, Okla. in 1972.
Muriel volunteered with Arne at Tech Serv in Greenbriar, Ark., managed retirement homes in multiple states, worked as an x-ray tech and medical assistant.
She and Arne attended Crossings Community Church. With all of this, Muriel still made time for hobbies: baking, quilting, knitting, and Thunder basketball. Go Thunder! Her quilting was always a special gift to family members for birthday and Christmas gifts, each stitch made with love and prayers. Muriel enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Anytime you went for a visit there was always a fresh cookie, caramel roll or the smell of fresh baked bread.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ruth Lee, and siblings Wallace Lee, Vern Lee and Elaine Johnson.
Muriel is survived by her children, all of Edmond: Jacquelyn and Chuck Adams, Tim and Tesha Loven, Rick and Kristi Loven; grandchildren: Andrew Walker, Daniel and Lacy Walker, Kimberly and Clint Vincent, Lauren and Jed Pitzer, Lars Loven, Clayton Daniel, Kelsey Daniel, Kelsey Loven, Marissa and John, Pickens III, Ricky Loven, Rylie Loven; and great grandchildren: Ethan and Adriuana Walker, Kelton, Keegan, Kelby, Kameron Hagerman, Addyson and Xander Vincent, Charlie Pitzer, and baby on the way (John Pickens IV.) Muriel is also survived by sister Joan Johnson of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister-in-laws LaVonne Lee of Phoenix, Ariz. and Phyllis Lee of Omaha, Neb.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A celebration of Muriel's life will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Crossings Community Church, 14600 Portland Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73134. Lance Ward will officiate. Services have been entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home of Edmond.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Dakota Missionary Evangelism Inc., 800 24th Ave SW Minot, ND 58701 or Tech Serv International, 13 Thomas Drive, Greenbriar, AR 72058.
