Kenneth Simmons passed away January 11, 2016, in Edmond, Okla. He was born March 22, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He grew up in Claflin, Kan., and went to college at OCC. Later he received a Masters degree in Accounting and Education at Central State, now the University of Central Oklahoma. He was a certified public accountant and worked as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Joyce Simmons. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol Simmons of Guthrie, Okla.; daughter and son-in-law, Kari and Anthony Tompkins of Edmond, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law, Colin and Kim Simmons of Crescent, Okla.; sister-in-law and husband, Cindy and Randy Lovett of Edmond; brother-in-law and wife, John and LeeAnn McDonald of Hutchinson, Kan., and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, January 14, at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Gracelawn Cemetery.
