Kathleen's Story

Kathleen (Kathy) McComb Goudge passed away November 17, 2016 in Houston, Texas, after a long, hard battle with leukemia. She was born in Mt. Clemens, Mich., May 27, 1956 to Lois (Dock) and Samuel McComb. Her family moved to Louisville, Ky., when she was just starting kindergarten. After graduating from the University of Missouri Journalism School in 1977, she lived in St Louis and spent her last 25 years in Edmond, Okla.
Kathy was a devoted mother and grandmother, encouraging her sons in all their activities and loved spending time with her granddaughters. She served on the Scout Council and spent many nights camping out with the Scouts, supporting her sons' Scouting programs.
Kathy was passionate about animals, leading her to volunteer at the Edmond Animal Shelter, finding joy in caring for the animals. She was an excellent journalist, working as a reporter for the Edmond Sun. She wrote a popular column highlighting dogs and cats to help them find forever homes. Kathy was very active in Paws for Life and the Community Cat Coalition of Edmond. Being a charter member of Santa Fe Presbyterian Church in Edmond, she served as elder, mission chair, and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Her father, Samuel McComb, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Mathew (Lauren) Toppins of Oklahoma City, Okla., and James Toppins of Houston, Texas; husband, Darrell Goudge, of Edmond; mother, Lois (Dock) McComb, Hendersonville, Tenn.; granddaughters, Dylan and Walker Toppins, Oklahoma City; brothers Doug McComb of Sandy, Utah and Tom McComb, Gallitin, Tenn.; cousin April (Dock) Morrison of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; aunt Lillian Dock of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; stepchildren, Jennifer Goudge of Mustang, Okla., Geoff Goudge of Bellevue, Nebr., and Eric Goudge of Avon Park, Fla.; her best friend Martha McNeese of Edmond, and Tucker, Sheba, and Riley.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. on December 10, at the Santa Fe Presbyterian Church, Edmond. In lieu of flowers please donate to Edmond Paws for Life, P.O.
