John's Story

John Edward Wayant was born in St. Louis, Mo., on October 7, 1931 to John and Freida Wayant. He passed from this life on December 28, 2016 in Edmond, Oklahoma. John lived in Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. John celebrated 45 years of marriage to his late bride Marjorie. John and Marjorie had four sons together.
John was a member of the United States Army Reserves for nine years. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri. John worked in merchandising and sales for 33 years at Fleming Foods. John loved to volunteer for his church and participate in the choir. During his free time, John enjoyed reading books, watching TV, listening to music, and reminding himself on how lucky he was. In his younger years, John loved to play the accordion. John was a major supporter of all sports and teams, but his favorites were baseball, football, basketball, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Wayant, and grandson, Caleb Wayant.
John is survived by his sons, Ron Boyer and wife Cindy, John Boyer and wife Janna, Bruce Wayant and wife Dawn, and Steve Wayant and wife Staci; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in Edmond. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
