Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to William O. and Katherine I. Alexander, John attended Nichols Hills Elementary, Harding Junior High, and graduated from Casady in 1970.
He attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. In 1972 he married his high school sweetheart, Lynne Rhody Alexander. After graduating from OU in 1974, he started working at Continental Federal Savings & Loan, where he quickly worked his way up to vice president and then president of First Service Corporation. He was a member of Young Men's Dinner Club and awarded outstanding Young Executive. After 10 successful years in banking, he ventured into residential and commercial construction and development, becoming one of the most successful and prominent developers in Edmond and the surrounding metropolitan area. Some of his developments include The Trails, Trails South, Oak Brook, Ripple Creek, Oak Brook Shopping Center, Twin Oaks, Asheforde Oaks, Southerly Farms, Robin Ridge, Stoneridge, Castlebrook Crossing, Colony at Williamsburg, Millers Gate, Hickory Creek, Deerfield and Deer Springs.
John was a loving and supportive father to five daughters and 13 grandchildren. He honored his children and grandchildren by naming streets after them in his developments. His favorite past time was traveling with the love of his life, Lynne. He also enjoyed NASCAR, animals, trains, meteorology, reading, OU football, trivia, cars, music and collecting various things.
He is survived by parents William O. and Katherine I. Alexander; wife Lynne Alexander; daughters and sons-in-law: Jeannie and Chris LeBlanc and their children Kamber and Korbyn; Julie and Taber LeBlanc and their children Hunter, Teagen, Drake and Brinklee; Janna and Josh Koehn and their children Kate and Hazel; Jill and Justin Hodges and their children Prestyn, Keaton and Deacon; Jacey and Cort Massey and their children Gage and Cale; mother-in-law Jeanne B. Rhody, sister-in-law Kathy Alexander, niece and husband Mary and Robert Hyde and their children Julian and Scarlett, and best friend Robert Shoemaker.
John was preceded in death by brothers William O. Alexander Jr and James Alexander; father-in-law Donnell Rhody; and brothers-in-law Stephen, Michael and Craig Rhody.
The family would like to thank Lorine Allen, Ireal Miles, and Debra Alexander for their wonderful care and support.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2nd, at Coles Garden, 1415 NE 63rd St, Oklahoma City, OK 73111.
