Jerry Glynn's Story
Jerry Glynn Matthews Hill, aged 76, passed away on December 15, 2016 at her home in Fairview, Texas, surrounded by her family. Jerry Glynn was born on August 28, 1940, in Port Arthur, Texas, the daughter of Hayter and Jayse Matthews.
Jerry Glynn graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas, and received a BA in Education from Lamar University, a Masters of Education from Stephen F. Austin University and obtained her PhD in Education from McNeese University. Jerry Glynn retired from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1999 as a professor in the College of Education.
She enjoyed horseback riding, the symphony, theatrical plays, movies, museums and reading. She loved East Texas and visiting family. She spent many summers with her family at the rock house in Pritchett. She loved this time of her life.
Jerry Glynn is survived by her daughter Jaree Lynn Chambers (Scott) of Page, Ariz.; granddaughter Jordyn Chambers; grandson Coltan Chambers and many cousins and close friends. She will be dearly missed by all of her relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at the Church of Christ in Pritchett, Texas. Jerry Glynn will be interred at Oak Grove Cemetery, Nacogdoches, Texas, at 3:30 p.m. on December 27, 2016. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to Altus Hospice, 4560 Beltline Rd, Suite 404, Addison, TX 75001 or the American Cancer Society.
