James's Story

James N. Spaeth, of Edmond, Okla., passed away September 29, 2016. James was born and raised in Kansas City, Mo. to Ervin F. and Violet Spaeth, and grew up with five brothers and three sisters. He attended Holy Cross Catholic Elementary School, Northeast High School and Junior College.
During World War II, he came to Oklahoma City with his family for construction work at Tinker field and then joined the U.S. Navy to serve in the South Pacific on Ebye Island in the Kwajalein atoll in the Marshall Islands.
Before shipping out Jim met Patsey Davis in Oklahoma City and then married the love of his life on February 8, 1944 in Los Angeles, Calif. and had over 68 years of wedded bliss. Jim and Patsey loved dancing, traveling, bowling, playing cards and entertaining family and friends. They raised a family of five children.
After the war Jim joined his father and brothers at Spaeth, Inc. and worked with them until his retirement in 1986. Jim was awarded lifetime memberships in the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Condition-ing Engineers and the Associa-tion of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors.
Jim is survived by four children, Anita Goodale, Gary Spaeth, and Debbie Spaeth of Edmond and Mark Spaeth of Houston, Texas; sisters Inez Townsend of Columbus, Texas and Loretta Fairchild of Rogers, Ark.; and grandchildren Grant Goodale and family of Edmond, Michelle and Elizabeth Spaeth of Houston, Shelly Richardson of OKC, and Riley Spaeth of Edmond; and four great grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister, his oldest daughter Donna and two grandchildren Renee and Randy.
Evening Rosary prayer service will be 6:30 p.m. October 4, 2016 at Hahn-Cook Funeral Home, 6600 N.Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK, and a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. October 5, at St. Monica's Catholic Church, 2001 N. Western, Edmond.
