Jacob (Jay)'s Story

Jacob "Jay" Stinman Langthorn III, a resident of Edmond, Okla., died March 31, 2017, peacefully, surrounded by his children.
Jay was born August 23, 1926 in Manhattan N.Y. He was the oldest of two children of Jacob S. and Katherine B. Langthorn Jr. He grew up in Chappaqua, N.Y. and attended Horace Greely High School. Later in life he attended Colorado School of Mines, and Colorado State University where he graduated with a BA degree in Animal Husbandry. Jay served in the US Airforce from June 1945 to October 1948. He went back to New York where he met his future wife of 51 years.
He married Corinne W. Thompson of Richmond Hill, N.Y. on August 26, 1950. They moved to Colorado where he attended college and made a life for themselves. He worked for International Harvester, Gates Rubber Company, Laradon Hall, Avatrac, ITL Testing Labs, and JR Lighting in Houston, Texas. He purchased the lighting testing lab from JR Lighting and moved to Allentown, Penn. where he started his own lighting testing company, LTL. It became very successful and he sold it and moved to Oklahoma to be close to his children.
Jay was active in community service, as a member of the Thornton, Colo. city council, Lions Club, and he served on the Adams County District School board. He was a deacon of the Santa Fe Presbyterian Church in Edmond.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Katherine, wife Corinne and great granddaughter, Gina Nicole Webb.
He is survived by his sister, Lucia Sutton and husband William Sutton. His four children, Jacob (Jake) Langthorn (Barbara), Thomas (Tom) Langthorn (JoAnna), Debbie Lee (Tom), and Heather Hageman (Jeff) as well as 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. May 13, 2017 at Touchmark at Cof
