Howard Faris Bemis passed away peacefully Friday morning the 15th of July, 2016. Howard was born March 12th, 1943, to parents Dallas Howard Bemis and Elizabeth Lib Florence Bemis. Howard grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma where he graduated from Edmond High School in 1961.
Howard was very active in his teen years as a saxophone player in the Edmond High school band and in the Boy Scouts where he became an Eagle Scout.
After graduating from Edmond High School he attended Oklahoma State University and later went into partnership with his father at the Jack Wallace Company. Howard moved his family to Dallas, Texas in 1967. He again became involved in scouting at Arapaho United Methodist church where he served in various roles influencing the lives of many young men. In his spare time he enjoyed photography and many happy hours with his friends and family.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Margaret Paige Bemis.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jan Raley Bemis; son Todd F. Bemis; stepsons Adam Kilgore and Chris Kilgore; grandchildren Matthew, Tierney and Aislynn, and cousins JoAnn Owen and Beth Bowman and Nick Smith.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Brown Funeral home in Irving, Texas. A celebration of life will be held sometime this fall in Edmond, OK.
