Everett's Story

Everett Anon "Bud" Westmoreland, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died peacefully in his sleep on June 3, 2017. Bud was born in the family home in Guthrie, Okla. on April 9, 1932 to Everett Anon Westmoreland, Sr. and Carrie Frieda Myers Westmoreland.
He was the youngest of five children and the only boy. Bud spent his youth between Guthrie and Arkansas City, Kan. He ran track and played football for Arkansas City High and graduated there in 1950. Soon after, he volunteered for the Air Force and served from 1951-55 during which time he served in Korea arriving there on his 20th birthday. After an honorable discharge he relocated to Guthrie.
In time, he met Margie Miller and they were married on March 17, 1956 and were together for 61 years. The couple moved to Antioch, Calif. not long after and lived there until they both retired and moved back to Oklahoma. Bud worked as a refinerman for Fibreboard/Lousiana Pacific for 35 years.
He was a devout Christian and served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Faith Baptist Church in Antioch for many years. Bud was the one called when anyone needed help at the church and opened his home to people in need many times. He was known for his sense of humor and his big, kind heart. He leaves behind many friends and others who were touched by him in some way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and grandson, Dillon Westmoreland.
He is survived by his loving wife Margie, daughters Sheryl Alford (Joel) and Janet Bauer and son Everett "Anon" III. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Sarah Mast (Eric) and Anna Aruz (Regis), and grandsons, Logan, Evan, and Nolan Westmoreland, and Kyle Bauer and great grandson Regis Joel Aruz.
Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Noble Avenue Baptist Church with Ken Isom officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
