Dorris Miller was born to Scott Truman Bellew and Naomi Looney Bellew on August 25, 1924, in Oklahoma City, Okla. She attended Wilson High School and continued her education with an associate degree in business. She passed away peacefully, on December 28, 2016, while surrounded by her family.
She was lovingly referred to as "Gran" by many.
Dorris is survived by daughters Naomi Whitson and Gayle Langston, both of Edmond, Okla. She has one grandson David and his wife Sherrie, and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Evan Bryant. Her only granddaughter, Amy Bryan, preceded her in death. She is also survived by her nephew Shane Carson and his wife Debbie of Yukon, sister-in-law Elizabeth Vargas of Bethany, and nephew James Vargas of California.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jim; her parents and her sister Mary Carson; brother-in-law Bud Carson, niece Kim Hayes, and nephews Scott and Steve Carson.
Dorris and her husband Jim moved to Arkansas in 1975 to become "chicken rangers." She was an active member of The First Presbyterian Church of Mountainburg, Ark.. She loved quilting, cross stitch, watching Tiger Woods play golf, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The thing she was most proud of was her family. Gran was a true example of God's love. She never had a harsh word to say and had a contagious laugh. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her. The family would like to thank her amazing caregivers, Beckie Breeden and Lisa Santino as well as all the staff of Valir Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday January 3, at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum., Oklahoma City.
