Donald's Story

Donald (Don) Brudzinski, a devoted, loving father and husband, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016, with family at his side. Don was born September 3, 1938, to Helen and Jerome Brudzinski in Detroit, Mich. He married Marlene Mahinske Brudzinski on May 2, 1959, in Hamtramck, Mich., enjoying 56 years of happiness together. Don graduated from the University of Detroit with a Bachelors degree and later received his Masters degree from Lake Forest College in Chicago. His business career in the food industry started with Jewel Tea Company in Illinois, 20 years later a move back to Michigan to work for Chatham Foods in Detroit, five years later a move to Topeka, Kan., and the Fleming Foods Company, one year later moving to Oklahoma City with Fleming Foods and settling in Edmond. While working for Jewel Tea, he and his family resided in Algonquin, Ill., where Don was active in the community. He served on the Algonquin Planning Commission; president of the Lions Club and PTA president at Eastview school. He and his family enjoyed many happy years in Algonquin. In his free time, Don enjoyed fishing, reading and refinishing antiques. Family mourning his passing and missing him already are his wife and caregiver, Marlene; daughter, Pam Przygocki and husband, David; sons, Craig Brudzinski and wife, Stephanie, Paul Brudzinski and wife, Danelle all of Edmond, Okla.; Jay Brudzinski and wife, Melissa of Florida; Mark Brudzinski and partner, Jim Stoddard of California; and seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Baggerley Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 13, at The Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist in Edmond, Okla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peruvian Mission Fund or Samaritan House c/o The Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist, P. O. Box 510, Edmond, OK 73083-0510.
