Dennis's Story

Dennis Clark Evans, of Knoxville, MD, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the age of 71.
Dennis was born to parents Kenneth and Virginia Evans on March 19, 1945 in Wauwatosa, WI. He grew up as the eldest of three siblings. Dennis moved to Colorado when he was 16 years old. In 1968, he married his first wife, Karen. Karen and Dennis had no children. She precedes him in death. In 1982, Dennis married Julie. In 1983, Dennis adopted his first daughter, Brandi Nicole. Shortly thereafter, his daughter Jessica Rachelle was born., followed by his only son, Andrew Clark. Dennis moved to Oklahoma in 1996, and spent 17 years traveling and enjoying life with his companion, Sherry Oxford.
Dennis was a true "techie," as he liked to call it, and spent his career in computer programming and support. He was an original thinker, an animal and nature lover, and fisherman. He loved to spend his time driving through the country, taking "Evans' short-cuts." Dennis was also an avid volunteer at multiple organizations in all the places he lived, including Edmond Mobile Meals, Breakfast on Boulevard, the Van Ministry at Southern Hills Christian Church, the Senior Center, Frederick Hospital, and was a Stephen Minister at his church, Southern Hills Christian Church. Dennis was a member of Mensa International. In 2014, Dennis moved to Maryland to be closer to his children and granddaughter.
Dennis is survived by his daughter, Jessica Evans; his son, Andrew Evans; his siblings, Barbara Ochs and Wayne Evans; and his granddaughter,, Jade Warner. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Brandi Sester, and his parents, Kenneth and Virginia Evans.
To honor Dennis, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 3pm at Southern Hills Christian Church, located at 3207 S Blvd, in Edmond, OK, 73013.
The family is grateful for condolences. However, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Edmond Mobile Meals or Breakfast on Boulevard charities where Dennis volunteered.
