Carol Wyndolyn Brown of Edmond, Okla., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 16, 2017 in Edmond. She was born August 5, 1939 in Sallisaw, Okla., the daughter of Marion and Elsie Miller and was a graduate of Central High School in Sallisaw.
She married the love of her life, Jerry Brown, on June 14, 1958. They were blessed with many years of marriage, just recently celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary.
Carol served on the Board of Education as the director of school lunches, was a devoted home maker and helped Jerry manage the truck stop for many years. She was a faithful servant to The Lord, playing the piano at both Emmanuel Southern Baptist and Fairview Baptist Church, both in Edmond.
She was dearly loved by all that knew her and was a beloved sister and aunt to her family. She was affectionately known by her family as "Murt". She represented a southern lady in all aspects and was never without her lipstick and dressed for success. She had a vivacious laugh and a beautiful sense of humor and charm that touched those around her.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Brown, of the home, sister, Charlotte Cope and husband Cliff of Yakima, Wash., and numerous beloved nieces and nephews as well as many cherished great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Brown of Dallas, Texas;two brothers, Glyndon Miller and CB Miller of Sallisaw, Okla.; three sisters, Ruby June Holt of Edmond, Okla., Sybil Parsons of Sallisaw, Okla., and Betty Louise Thompson of Tulsa, Okla.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
A celebration of Carol's life will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond. The family will greet friends at Matthews Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
