Vincent Thomas "Vince" Furlong passed away on July 3, 2017 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born May 24, 1954 to John and Wilma Furlong. He was the first of five children. John referred to them as his "Full House" (2 Kings and 3 Queens).
Vince was raised on a farm in Navina, Okla., population 13 and 7 were the Furlongs. His young life was filled with fishing, farming and family celebrations. Vince attended grade school and middle school at St. Mary's Catholic School, where he developed lifelong friendships. He then attended Guthrie Public High School, where he graduated in 1973.
In 1975 Vince served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force where he made the rank of Sgt. He served until 1979. After his discharge Vince was employed with the US Postal Service in Edmond, Okla. until his retirement in 2015.
Vince was an avid Oklahoma State fan. Stories of Vince are numerous and quite humorous. Any one that knew Vince knows of one or many of them. Vince's siblings are Roseann, Joanie, Mary Pat and Terry. Vince had two children, Kelly and John. In 1990 Vince met the love of his life, Julie. They were wed in 1991 and Vince became a father to Monica, Bryan and Fallon. He has five grand-children.
Vince was preceded in death by his son Bryan Akins and his father John Furlong.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 26 years, Julie Furlong, mother Wilma Furlong, daughters Kelly O'Conner, Monica Scott, Fallon Carte and son John Furlong, his five grandchildren, sisters Roseann, Mary Pat, Joanie and brother Terry, numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Vince was and is loved by all who knew him or had the chance to just meet him once. He will be dearly missed by all and always remembered with a smile. We will all miss Vince and the stories he told.
A Memorial Mass for Vince will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guthrie, OK with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in OKC under the direction of Crawford Family Funeral Service, Edmond.
