Text size

Verlan Ken Raines was born September 2, 1954 in Liberal, Kan., to Mildred and George Raines. He graduated from Hooker High School in 1974 and the University of Central Oklahoma in 1979.
He married the love of his life, Patty Thorne, on February 12, 1983 with whom he recently celebrated 33 years of marriage this past Spring. The couple lived in Spain from 1984-1987 while Verlan worked for Firestone, then moved to Oklahoma City and worked together for 24 years as owners of Administration Service Corporation. He was one of the founding members of the American Business Club of Oklahoma City.
Verlan was a lifelong Sooner fan, hosting tailgates and attending both home and away games. He loved to entertain and his ability to host a barbeque was second to none. He was a friend to all. Those who knew him quickly became extended members of his warm and welcoming family. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband and father. His joyful smile, warm laugh, and open arms will forever be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mildred and George Raines.
He is survived by: his wife, Patty; their children, Christopher, Kimberly, and Kelley; and his siblings, Georgia, Donna, Barbara, Linda, Gary, Dottie and their families.
A celebration of life will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 19, at Southern Hills Christian Church, 3207 S. Boulevard, Edmond, OK 73013. Flowers and regards may be sent to Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S.
