Richard's Story

Text size

Richard Allen Kaul, Jr. “Rick” passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday March 15, 2016, in Edmond, OK. Born September 6, 1961 in Oklahoma City, OK, to Dick and Nisa Kaul. Rick started working with his dad at Kaul’s Plumbing at a young age and later partnered with his close friend Jim Hammond to open Kaul-Hammond Plumbing, Heating & Air where he encountered lifelong customers and friends.

Rick was an instant friend to all and the life of the party in any room. He loved riding his Harley “Val” and hunting at his property in Stigler, OK. Rick could never resist a good garage sale, a challenge to fix the “unfixable”, or an opportunity to help reduce the squirrel population.

He never passed up the opportunity to help another in need, whether it was pulling people out of the snow every winter with his four wheeler and chains or taking his dump truck and skid loader to help clear up debris after the Moore 2013 tornado. The spirit of this incredibly warm, giving and funny man, will live on in the many stories shared by all those who were fortunate enough to come across him.

He is survived by his son, Monte Kaul and his wife Erica of Edmond, OK; sister, Pamela Qarbaghi and her husband Eric of Houston, TX and brother David Kaul of OKC. In accordance with Rick’s wishes, a gathering to celebrate his life will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 6-9 PM at the Hamilton Event Center in Edmond, OK.
