Sue Rogers was born March 23, 1939 to William Edgar and Lera (Denney) Armitage in Hydro, Okla. and passed away on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the age of 79 years, 4 months, and 25 days.
Sue was raised in Cloud Chief, Okla. She later moved to Weatherford in 1947 and attended school where she graduated from Weatherford High School with the class of 1957. Sue earned an associate degree at Southwestern State University Business School.
In August 1960, she married Bill Seals and they made their home in Victorville, Calif. where she worked at the Bank of America. Sue later returned to Lawton, Okla. where she met and married Ray Rogers in 1964. They lived in San Antonio, Texas and Broken Arrow, Okla. In 1969, they moved to Edmond where they raised quarter horses. Sue worked for Southwestern Bell and then the City of Edmond, where she retired from after 40 years. In her early days she was a member of both The Weatherford Round-up Club and The Edmond Round-up Club. Sue was also honored with being Ms. Victorville, California and is still the reigning Ms. Weatherford of 1957.
Sue is survived by one son, Zane Rogers of Livermore, Calif.; one daughter, Robyn Sellers of Edmond, Okla.; one sister, Emma Jean Winn and husband, Floyd of Edmond, Okla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lera Armitage; two husbands, Bill Seals and Raymond Rogers; one brother, Vansel; two sisters, Mureta and Norma; and one son, Dennis Rogers.
Sue died of cancer and COPD but not defined by it, she lived a life of family and friends, not for things or for the labels of success and self-satisfaction, but for the joy of friendship, contribution and significance in the lives of others. Everyone will remember Sue's warm smile, infectious laugh, caring heart and indomitable spirit and most of all how she made each of us feel loved and accepted. She truly saw the best in us.
Daddy's girl, horse lover and trick rider, beauty queen, business woman and loving mother. She loved life and put the Lord first and she is with Him now in heaven with a renewed body and a renewed spirit. Heaven is brighter now from the warmth of her smile.
