Mary's Story

Text size

Mary J. (Bethany) Woods was born in Bradley, Ark., on January 16, 1935, to Guss and Mae (Pool) Bethany. She passed away at home, with her family by her side, on July 16, 2016. Mary was united in marriage for 60 years to William R. "Bill" Woods.
One of the larger joys of Mary's life was encouraging her daughter to attend the Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine. Graduation day was one of the happiest days of her life. Mary spent the next few years helping her daughter begin her veterinary practice in Edmond.
Before starting her career as a realtor, Mary volunteered her time to the Oklahoma 4-H Horse Club and later to the Oklahoma Junior Quarter Horse Association. She loved attending and supporting her daughter at horse shows and never hesitated hooking up the horse trailer and taking off to a horse show.
Mary spent over 35 years helping families buy and sell their homes. She always went above and beyond to help her clients. Many of her life-long friends were made while in real estate. When Mary retired, she and her husband built their dream home in the country. She spent the next several years decorating their home with just the right treasures.
She was an important part of many people's lives including her family. We have all been blessed to know Mary. She leaves behind her husband, Bill; daughter Diane Young, DVM and her husband Rodney B. Young; nieces Kathy Elliot Martin and Patsy Elliot Thompson and her 17 year old cat, "Blackie."
Visitation for Mary will be noon until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, and 9 a.m until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Crawford Family Funeral Service.
The family will be receiving friends at a reception from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, at the funeral home.
