Mary Lou Garrett, nee Patterson, a long-time resident of Oklahoma, died Sunday the 18th of October, in her home. Born in 1936 in Newton, Kan., Mary spent most of her life in Oklahoma City. She worked many years as a personnel manager for the City of Edmond from where she retired. Prior to the City of Edmond, Mary worked as a secretary before advancing her career. As a young single mother, she often worked more than one job at a time, while raising her two daughters. She loved her friends and family and her little Chihuahua, Gigi. Mary loved making quilts, researching family genealogy, and spending close times with family, especially her grandchildren. Later in life, her favorite pastime was discussing and debating politics. Mary is predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Harry William Garrett, and step-son William Garrett. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Lynn Spears and husband Larry M. Spears, and her daughter, Karen Leigh Mills and husband Stephen A. Mills. She also leaves grandchildren Joseph Michael McCourry, Jennifer Leigh Briscoe, Meghan Alexandra Spears, Michael Duane Cummins, Cody Bleu Cummins and great granddaughter Sienna Jameson Briscoe. A private family service was held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Edmond, Okla.
