Mary's Story

Text size

Mary "Theresa" Waste Anderson, 83, surrounded by family and friends, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2017. Theresa was born August 12, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was adopted by Cyril and Mabel Waste. After World War II, at the age of eleven, she and her parents moved to Tulsa, Okla. where she finish school and graduated from the University of Tulsa. Through a convention that they both attended with their parents, she met her soulmate Paul William Anderson. They were married over 50 years.
Paul and Theresa adopted and raised two beautiful children, Michael and Elizabeth. Theresa was a stay-at-home mom who was completely submersed in her children's lives. Carpooling loads of kids everywhere she went, she never missed an event. Their house was full of love, laughter and mischief which is why it was the home everyone gathered.
Theresa loved to golf, snow ski, play mahjong, knit, and create her own words in scramble. If she wasn't at the golf course, she was volunteering at the library in Mercy Hospital, the Historical Society, or the Cowboy Hall of Fame.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband Paul. She leaves behind her son Michael, his wife RussAnn, and their two children Logan and Mackenzie; daughter Elizabeth, her husband Adam, and their children Lauren and Emily.
In that final day, we had a moment that is too good not to share. Theresa in a moment of clarity at the very end looked at her son and said, "Oh Michael, I don't ever want to do this again!" That lady, bless her soul, she made us laugh until the very end.
