Mark D. Estes, of Edmond, Okla., died unexpectedly on December 1, 2015 at the age of 61. Mark was born on March 19, 1954 in Madison, Wi., but lived in Bartlesville, Okla., for over 30 years before moving to Odessa, Texas, and then settling in Edmond, Okla., in 1998. In 1995, Mark met the love of his life, Barbie Denham Mizar, whom he married in August 1997. They loved to travel and cook and garden and took joy in many things in life. Most of all, they loved spending time with family. Mark was an avid collector and greatly enjoyed working in the yard. He was a wealth of knowledge, and his children looked to him often for his trusted advice. He was a big presence and offered himself up to his community in many ways. He served with the Jaycees in Bartlesville, where he held seat as president for two years and was presented with countless awards for his service. He excelled in his career with Phillips Petroleum, where he proudly worked for almost 40 years, and will be incredibly missed by those who had the opportunity to work closely with him. Mark will be loved and missed by countless family members, including surviving wife, Barbie; daughters, Jessica Snodgrass and Andrea Ellis; step-daughter, Kim Mizar-Stem; step-sons, David Mizar and Mark Mizar; his five grandchildren; sister, Sammye Samson; brother, DJ Estes; and step-father, Dean Bowden. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lula (Lou) Bowden; and his sister, Georgeen Goodell. At Mark’s request, no formal services will be held, but rather a private family memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
