Lynnelle Kathryn Fithian, 84, passed from this life to run in the fields of the Lord on October 24, 2015 in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was born July 17, 1931 in Rittman, Ohio to Francis and Adrian Jackson. Her mother remarried when Lynnelle was 3 years old and the man who raised her as his own daughter was Malcolm Hammer. Lynnelle married George A. Fithian on June 7, 1957. In that marriage, she gave birth to three children: Lynn Ellen, Lee Anne, and Matthew George. Each child grew up into strong and confident adults, knowing their talents and strengths were given to serve their families and others in need. Each graduated from college and had families of their own and Lynnelle joyously took on the role of mischievous and fun loving Grandma, the teller of stories. In the final years of her life, as her quick mind dwelled in a body failing her with a newly defined post-polio syndrome, her spirit never faltered. In her final days, she surprisingly asked what she had accomplished on this earth. Her daughters recounted their blessings and thanked her for their lives, their strength, their compassion and the gift of her legacy. She is survived by her daughter Lynn Flener and her husband Larry of Edmond, Okla., grandsons Timothy Flener, and David Flener and his wife Stacey; granddaughter Jamie Flener and great-grandson Devin of Dallas, Texas; her daughter Lee Fithian and grandson Liam Fithian of Norman, Okla.; her sister Barbara and nieces Donna, Linda and Barbie Ann of Media, Pa., and cousins Jon Haas and David Bender of Florida, Janet Kovacs of Pennsylvania and sister-in-law Jean Adams of New Jersey. She is preceded in death by her husband George and son Matthew. A private Celebration of Life will be November 14, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Edmond.
