Loretta "Joan" McHone, 81, of Edmond, Okla., died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018. Joan was born March 8, 1936 to Ernest H. Yost and Rebecca L. Newsom of Yukon, Okla. She is one of five children; two brothers: Harold and Ernest H. Yost Jr. and two sisters: Elaine and Jeanette. All of which were raised by a wonderful lady - Ruby Aline.
She met her husband of 50 years, Bob McHone in October 1952 while he worked for Ashby House Movers. Bob had been hired to move a particular house and the resident adamantly refused to leave the house, so Bob hitched up the house and resident and moved them to their new location. The rest was history in the making. Joan was a homemaker and co-owner of the Eight Ball and Travel Inn Taverns and then finally retiring from Parkway Cleaners in 2009. Their marriage produced four beautiful children: Connie Sue of Edmond, Gary Dewayne of Edmond, Clyde Ernest of Oklahoma City, and George Robert of Edmond. She was the proud and loving grandmother to nine grandchildren: Jason, Tony, Stephanie, Tye, Tee, Jeremiah, Amberlynn, Joshua, Rebekah, and great-grandmother to Bryce, Ashlyn, Zowi, Madison, Chloe, Rowan, Calib, Payton, Keston, and one on the way... and lots of nieces and nephews as well.
Joan was an animal lover and raised rabbits and dogs as well as loved feeding her birds and squirrels and stray neighborhood creatures. She loved a good garage or estate sale and could never pass up a bargain.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; two brothers, Harold and Ernest H. Yost, both of her parents, her step-mother; her two sons Clyde and Gary; and her grandson Jeremiah.
Funeral services were 2 p.m., March 2, 2018 under the direction of Baggerley Funeral Home. Interment followed at Gracelawn Cemetery.
