Keith Alan Vermillion, age 37, of Edmond, Okla. passed away peacefully at his home on October 19, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. He inspired many lives with his kindness and positive outlook on life.
Keith was born June 2, 1980 in Cordell, Okla. to Dennis and Lynda (Harris) Vermillion. He was raised and graduated high school in Cordell. He earned his bachelor's degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University where he was also a member of the Northwestern Rangers football team from 1999-2004. Keith was a physical education teacher at Lakeview Elementary School in Norman, Okla. for ten years prior to his illness. During that time he also coached numerous sports at Longfellow Junior High and coached his passion, boys' soccer, at Norman High School.
Keith married his high school sweetheart, Amanda (Rice) Vermillion, on July 5, 2003. On December 7, 2011, they welcomed their daughter, Emily Paige Vermillion, who was the most important part of his life.
Keith is survived by his loving wife and beautiful daughter, of the home. He is also survived by his parents of Cordell; brother Aaron (Lisa) Vermillion, nephew, Owen, and niece, Kaylee, of Alva, Okla.; grandfather, James Mayfield of Cordell; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Friends and family were invited to a visitation on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home's Historic Chapel at 13313 N. Kelley, Oklahoma City.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Memorial Road Church of Christ, Edmond, Okla. A sunset burial service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Union Hatchett Cemetery in Bessie, Okla.
As an expression of sympathy and remembrance, contributions may be made to the Cara Hobbs Foundation via Clays for Cara or the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation where a scholarship fund is being established in Keith's memory.
