John Leslie Wright, Sr. passed away surrounded by family in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the age of 73.
John was born August 11, 1943 in Danville, Ill. to William and Iris Wright. He married Ruth Davis, his high school sweetheart on March 15, 1964 and they were married 53 years. Upon high school graduation, he began a 52 year career with Trinity Industries. He enjoyed a lengthy railcar manufacturing career in Indiana, Texas and Oklahoma. The couple raised two children, J. and Janienne, in Edmond, Okla. His children and grandchildren remember him as a genuine, ornery and thoughtful soul who loved spending time fishing, golfing, cooking and hanging out with family.
John is survived by his wife, Ruth Davis Wright; son, J. Wright (Melody); daughter, Janienne Bella (Tony); grandchildren, Cooper and Cale Wright and Blake Bella, all of Edmond; his sisters, Linda Fix (John) of La Porte, Ind.; Patricia Querry (Roger) of Francesville, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Wright of Cayuga, Ind., Iris Spencer Wright Page and step-father Eugene Page; his sister Karen Wright, all of Francesville, Ind.
The family will be receiving visitors at Baggerley Funeral Home from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, and a service to celebrate his life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Acts 2 United Methodist Church, 4848 W Covell Road, Edmond, OK 73012. Rev. Mark Foster will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John's life.
