James Earl Cleveland


James Earl Cleveland "Jim" was born June 14, 1932, in Boseman, Mont., to Earl and Isa Cleveland. He attended school in Polson, Mont., and graduated from Polson High School in 1950. He graduated from Montana School of Mines in 1957 with a degree in Mining Engineering.
In 1960, Jim was hired as a mining engineer by Kerr McGee Corporation's uranium mining operation in Grants, N.M. After the mining operation ceased, he was transferred to the Oklahoma City corporate office in 1985 until he retired in 1995.
Jim loved woodworking and built numerous pieces of furniture for his family and friends. Later on, he began woodturning and designed a variety of segmented pieces, including bowls, vases, and wine glasses.
Jim is survived by his wife, Carol Hayton Cleveland; daughters, Sandy Lamb (Steve), Kimberley Lukasavitz (Eric); son, Jonathan K. Brewer; sister, Orlena Gabel (Gerald); as well as his four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 14700 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Augustine's Building Fund or a donation made to any charity of your choice.
