Jack L. Dowdy "Poppy Jack", 76, of Edmond, Okla., was born October 5, 1940, in Mangum, Okla. to Jack and Emma (Harper) Dowdy. He passed away March 5, 2017 with his family by his side.
Jack was a longtime member of the Henderson Hills Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Louella Dowdy, wife Barbara, and granddaughter Jessica Hatcher.
His survivors include Shelly and Brad Sanderson, Christa and Jim Malcolm, Tracee and Trey Strong; grandchildren Wylee and wife McKenna, Avery and Emily, Toby and Randy Sanderson, Emily Hatcher and Madison Malcom and Blair, Alee, and TJ Strong, and one great-grandson Jack Sanderson. He is also survived by his sister Ruth Jessing and husband Dick, and his sister Su Musick and husband Jack.
Jack was loved by his family and many friends.
Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Matthews Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Henderson Hills Baptist Church of Edmond, with burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to "Ministries of Jesus", 1100 East I-35 Frontage Road, Edmond, OK 73034.
