Irma's Story

Irma Mae Muelder, 92, known to her grandchildren and many others as “E-Mom”, was born February 16, 1923, in Schuyler County, Ill., to parents Leonidas and Alta (Lashbrook) Willey. She went to her heavenly home on January 2, 2016. Irma grew up in Industry, Ill., and worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for the Aurora, Ill., public school system. She was a life-long Sunday school teacher and remained close to many of her former students. Irma loved horses and was proud to have ridden in the Bicentennial Trail Ride in Hastings, Minn. She was also an accomplished artist. Her biggest pride and joy in life was her family. Irma was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50-plus years, Charles Muelder; three sisters; two brothers, and son-in-law, Richard Hampton. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Hampton-Wilson, and Leota Roehrig and husband Gerald; son, Richard Muelder; grandchildren: Susan Hampton, Mike Hampton and wife Geneva, Dawn Hampton-King and husband Ron, Christina St. John and husband William, Carrie Dyck and husband Nathan, and Reneé Cagle and husband Raymond; great-grandchildren: Tyler King, Casey Hampton, Jenna Hampton, James Hoard and wife Emily, Jenny Morris and husband Zach, Sarah Shambo and husband Ben, Carina St. John, Liana St. John, Madeleine Dyck, and Emily Dyck; great-great grandchildren: Owen Hoard, Riley Watson, Blake Shambo, and Lincoln Morris; and many other family members and friends. A celebration of Irma’s life will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, at New Covenant United Methodist Church, Edmond, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City.
