Gloria Sue Miller White, age 65, passed on from this world on May 24, 2018 in Bwindi National Park, Uganda. She was fulfilling a lifelong dream of observing mountain gorillas with her husband of 37 years Dr. Gary Lynn White.
Gloria was born Aug. 1, 1952 to Eugene Lyle and Mary Ann Miller in Oklahoma City, Okla. She lived in Oklahoma for the majority of her life, graduating from NW Classen High School in 1970. She attended Oklahoma City University, where she was a member and president of Alpha Chi Omega and graduated in 1974 with a degree in Biology.
Gloria worked as an ASCP certified medical technologist for Baptist Hospital and OU Health Science Center, where she met her husband Gary. They were married in 1981 and resided in Edmond, Okla. Gloria attended OU college of law and obtained her Juris Doctorate in 1986. She served as assistant general counsel for the Oklahoma Bar and later as a staff attorney and ombudsmen for the University of Oklahoma.
Gloria used her strong will and legal training to defend and assist anyone in need. She was an avid traveler and had a goal to visit all seven continents - Africa made six. She loved to garden and play bridge with her Alpha Chi Sisters. However, her greatest joy and passion was her Family. Gloria's legacy lives on through her two daughters, Dr. Emily Sue Miller White, and Sarah Elizabeth White. She treasured quality time spent with her husband, daughters, son-in-law (Dr. Samuel Cook) and future son-in-law Tucker Irey.
She is also survived by her siblings David (Linda) Miller, Larry Miller, and Elizabeth Miller; mother-in-law Virginia White; step daughters Susan Epley (Bradford) and Kimberly Way (Bradley); and grandchildren Ethan, Alice, Robert, and Andy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William "Bill" Miller.
The family was deeply touched by the compassion of the people of Uganda, especially the support of Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe.
Memorial contributions in Gloria's honor may be made to Sr. Rosemary's Sewing Hope Foundation.
