Gene Ernest Holtz, Sr., died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 in Searcy, Ark. He was born Dec. 12, 1931 in Floyd, Iowa to Howard Ernest Holtz and Margaret May Dodge Holtz. He was a multi-talented man who loved woodworking. He worked at Sinclair Oil Company, Baptist Boy's Ranch in Edmond, Okla., and the Oklahoma Historical Society. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and a member of First General Baptist Church in Searcy and Waterloo Road Baptist Church in Edmond.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Martin Holtz of Searcy; two sons, Gene Ernest Holtz, Jr. and wife Gina of Edmond, Jeff Holtz and wife Lea of Searcy; five grandchildren, Amanda Roussel and husband Blake of Conway, Ark., Garett Holtz of Edmond, Michelle Stewart of Edmond, Rebekah Taylor and husband Blake of Fort Smith, Ark., Justin Holtz of Searcy, Ark.; one brother, Donald Holtz and wife Judy of Tulsa, Okla.; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eldon Holtz; and one sister, Joan Arns.
A memorial celebration of his life will be 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 in Tulsa at the LaFortune Community Center, 5202 S. Hudson Ave. Lunch will be provided. All family and friends are invited.
