Ellen's Story

Ellen L. (Germann) Chambers passed away June 6, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born May 18, 1935, in Pawnee, Ill., to Clifford and Betty (Willoughby) Germann. She graduated from Pawnee High School and then worked as a telephone operator in Taylorville, Ill. She married Bob Lee Chambers in 1956.
Bob and Ellen and their expanding family moved to southern California in 1959, where in addition to raising five rambunctious boys, Ellen sold jewelry and became a very accomplished seamstress. In 1977, the entire family relocated to Edmond Okla., and Ellen joined "The Decorating Gallery", making hand crafted specialty draperies, curtains, comforters and other interior design accessories. Ellen later became an independent business woman and continued to use her skills for multiple designers across Edmond and Oklahoma City. She worked until the week before she was hospitalized.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; sister Dorothy; brothers Clifford, Donald, Jay and Charles; and her loving husband of so many years, Bob.\ She leaves behind her sister Anne Millburg; brother Jim Germann; children Bobby and wife Dora, Rick and wife Brenda, Rodney, Rory and Randy. She will also be missed by her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as her 'decorating group' and "AMI" friends.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond, OK with interment to follow.
