Dr. Jack W. Melton Jr

August 20, 1946 - September 04, 2018

Dr. Jack W. Melton, Jr. was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was born Aug. 20, 1946 in Ft. Smith, Ark. and he passed on Sept. 4, 2018 in Edmond, Okla., his hometown of 43 years.
Melton was founder and chief physician at Omni Eye Center. He was a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and past-president of the Oklahoma Optometric Association. Melton was a leader in the laser surgery and contact lens industries. He graduated from Southern College of Optometry. Melton also attended the University of Central Oklahoma, University of Oklahoma, and U.S. Grant High School.
Melton loved travel, sports and photography. He visited all 50 states and 15 foreign countries. You could find him cheering on his kids and grandkids at their games with a camera in his hand. During retirement, he attended photography courses, took photography trips and participated in art shows and contests.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack W. Melton, Sr. and Vera Childers Melton.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet Lackey Melton; children Lori Melton McKinnon, Rodd Melton, and Ryan Melton; daughters-in-law, Kristi Melton and Alissa Melton; siblings Connie Melton Eastburn, Rick Melton, and Vickie Melton Jenkins. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren Jake McKinnon, Meredith McKinnon, Claire McKinnon, Kyler Melton, Karson Melton, Luke Melton, Kate Melton, and Ella Melton.
Viewing will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018. Funeral ceremony will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Edmond.

So sorry to hear of Jack's passing. We have fond remembrances of our times together during the late 70's and 80's with Heart of America Contact Lens conferences. Also our stay with jack and Janet during Nebraska/Oklahoma football games. Thinking of you all.
