Doris's Story

Doris Hopkins Staley, age 95, of Edmond, Okla., went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2017 at Legend of Tulsa Hills Memory Care.
Doris was born November 30, 1921 in Abilene, Kan. to W.V. and Pearl Holeman, and was the fifth of nine children. She graduated from Britton High School in 1939 and married C.F. (Hoppy) Hopkins of Guthrie, Okla. in 1940. To this union two daughters were born, Pamela and Francine Sue (Susie). They made their home in Guthrie for over 40 years. After Hoppy passed away in 1988, Doris met George R. Staley, a former high school classmate, and they married in 1990, residing in Edmond.
Doris enjoyed conducting estate sales and her business Hobby Horse Antiques, as well as bridge, decorating, gardening, and writing poetry. She was a former member of Guthrie Round-Up Club, Beta Sigma Phi, Eastern Star, and member of Presbyterian and Baptist Churches.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, her daughter Susie, and six siblings.
She leaves behind her daughter Pam and her husband Jim of Sapulpa, Okla.; her son-in-law, Ron Cooper of Garber, Okla.; her three grand-daughters, Kim Butler and her companion Randy Westlake, Jil Gaylor and husband Guy, and Jennifer Cooper Miller and husband Todd; three great grandchildren, Katelyn Butler, Jase Gaylor and Hopkins Miller; her two sisters, Shirley Muzny and her husband Ralph of Hot Springs, Ark., and Ethel Arterburn of Bethany, Okla.; and many nephews and nieces.
She will be sincerely missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her and those of us who loved her.
A private family service will be held at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie.
