Dean Francis Hyde

August 02, 1931 - June 21, 2017

Dean was a longtime resident of Edmond, Okla., where he is survived by many friends, students and former colleagues. He moved to Nashville, Tenn. to live his remaining years close to his family. On this one year anniversary of his passing, although not living in Edmond at the time, it is important to his family to recognize his connection to the Edmond community where he lived and loved for over 40 years of his adult life.
Although Dean's passing was a result of complications due to heart disease, his life was a long, fulfilling life. He was many things to many people including family, friend, artist, professor and mentor. When you ask those that knew him best, they will tell you the passion for his artistry is what defined him and how he would want to be remembered.
Dean was also known in the community as the associate professor, Department of Visual Arts and Design, College of Liberal Arts, at Univ. of Central Oklahoma, where he retired after 30 years of dedication. He was best known for the art he created and displayed throughout the years during many, many community events.
Dean is predeceased by his parents George and Frances Hyde, brother King Hyde and daughter-in-law Kellye Hyde (Greg).
He is survived by his life partner Kent Yockey of Nashville Tenn., brothers John Hyde and Tom Hyde of Kansas, sons Greg Hyde of Katy, Texas and Gary Hyde of Mount Juliet, Tenn., daughter-in law Jeanne Hyde (Gary), grandchildren Ben, Jennifer, Chris, Summer, Shauna, Allyson, Kaitlyn and great-grandchildren Kaaden, Parker, Poetry and Liam. He will be missed by many.
