Cheryl's Story

Cheryl Ann Stratton passed away March 4, 2017 due to complications from diabetes. She was born in Lamar, Mo., March 25, 1948 to Mary (Hamilton) and Merlin Stratton. Her family moved to Pekin, Ill., where she spent her childhood. After finishing her degree in biology at Bradley University, she moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she earned a law degree from Drake University in 1975. She was an Assistant Attorney General in Iowa. She spent her last 25 years in Edmond, Okla., where she worked for the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST) until retirement in 2011. She had an interest in writing and won awards for her fiction.
Cheryl was also passionate about caring for and protecting animals, especially cats. She was a volunteer for the Commun-ity Cat Coalition of Edmond.
Her mother, Mary (Hamilton) Stratton, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Goudge and husband David of Mustang, Okla.; father, Merlin Stratton of Edmond; brother David Stratton and wife Robyn of Raleigh, N.C., and her two beloved cats, Kate and Alex.
