Carol was born Nov. 7, 1950, in Los Angeles, Calif. When a teenager, she proudly represented her high school when she marched in the Tournament of Roses Parade as a baton twirler.
She moved to Edmond, Okla. over 20 years ago with her husband and two small children and never looked back. She absolutely loved living in Edmond and adored living in a place that had so many Godly people openly sharing their love of the Lord.
She relished her role as homemaker, caring for her husband and two children whom she loved with all her heart. Over the years she has volunteered at Project 66, BirthChoice, Mom's in Touch, and any other place where she felt she was needed. She returned briefly to California to pack up her elderly mother and moved her to Edmond where she cared for her for 10 years.
Spring was her favorite time of year, as it allowed her to play outside in the flower beds, work her hands in the soil, and create unbelievable creations of colorful beauty. She was a master at it.
She loved good food, socializing and entertaining with her friends and her church small groups. During these events, Carol was usually tasked with providing the desserts and attendees were never disappointed. She loved being involved in church women groups where she shared her love of the Lord. She received great pleasure from her knitting group and the friends she made there.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Somers of Edmond, Okla.; son, Alex Somers of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and daughter, Gail Somers of West Palm Beach, Fla.
Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, at First Presbyterian Church of Edmond, 1001 S Rankin.
Inurnment will be in Hope Cemetery in Geuda Springs, Kan., on a future date to be announced.
