Billy Hugh Brawner, born Jan. 20, 1928, left this earth to be with our Lord on March 3, 2018. Billy was born in Okemah, Okla. to Nellie Louise (Leeson) and Homer Charles Brawner.
He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1946 and continued on in the construction industry, working on many projects across the states including the World War II barracks in Alaska. After returning to Oklahoma, he joined the local 329 Carpenter Union which led him to work on every major building in the area for the next 65 years, including the Murrah Federal Building, Penn Square Mall and Remington Park.
Billy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nadine; his six children: Darlene, Gaylyn and husband Tom Haynes, Cindy and husband Paul Waits, Kevin and wife Holly Brawner, Michael and wife Erin Brawner and Phillip and wife Deanna Brawner; 12 grandchildren: Jennifer, Jeremy, Justin, Daniel, Desireé, Brenna, Brett, Travis, Kaleb, Tori, Braxton and Amanda; and 13 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Max, Hunter, Bella, Wyatt, Claire, Elise, Trevin, Tacey, Treyston Joe, Jaxon, Mason and Lincoln.
Billy is preceeded in death by his parents; brother Earl Leroy; sisters Wanda and Helen; and his infant son Ronald Joe.
His most passionate pastime was caring for family and supporting all family activities. Billy was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and would not hesitate to tell everyone about them.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stonegate Presbyterian Church.
Viewing will be 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, OK.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Stonegate Presbyterian Church, 17101 N. Western Ave.
Graveside service to follow at Summit View Cemetery, 1808 N. Pine Street Guthrie, OK.
